I've been trying to make my card for Ellen Hutson Mix it Up with Avery Elle for the last 3 days.  Couldn't get it to work, so went ahead with another idea.  Unfortunately, I discovered that VersaMagic goes through micropore tape, so that card had to be cut down leaving no room for my EH sentiment. Turned out with a card I like that will only need 1 stamp, so that's good. I'll show it to you next, but here's my EH card using AE Winter Wreath.
Every time I saw it used on a card I was drawn to it, so finally got the stamps & dies last year.  Have no idea why I didn't use them for any 2016 cards, but now it's going to be hard to put them away!  The wreath is stamped first in Brilliance Thyme & then in Pearlescent Olive which gives a beautiful goldish sheen. The bow & berries are stamped in VersaMagic Red Magic & Diamond Glaze is added to the berries.  I splattered the 2 green inks before attaching the EH sentiment made with dies from the Merry & Bright set.  You can't see in the photo, but they have sparkle from a Spectrum Noir clear pen.  I'll use this for a winter birthday card, so I'm also entering SSS Wednesday & Word Art Wednesday.

Here's the first card I made.  The sentiment is from the same stamp set & is stamped in Versafine Vintage Sepia.  I used a PTI balloon string to stamp the red lines.
Here's a close up showing the wreath colors--same for both cards.
I'm entering the Flickr Love GroupChristmas Card Challenges & HLS Christmas Challenge.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Noel & Plan for 2017

Last month I figured out ways to decrease my stress around mailing Christmas cards.  I had plenty of cards made since I create them all year long.  However, none of them had the inside greeting or the "created by Greta" stamped.  This year my plan is to do the additional stamping once a month--a reasonable goal for me.  I also realized that a lot of my stress was over deciding which card to send to each person.  Making all one design is not an option for me, but making most of them A2 & flat enough for 1 stamp is possible.  Each month when I stamp the greeting I will write the potential recipient on a sticky note. Since they will all fit in the same envelopes, I can address them at my leisure starting in the Fall. Then the first of December I will begin signing cards with enough time to even write a little note.  Your stressors may be different, but maybe some of my ideas will help you, too.
That brings me to my card.  OK--I already broke the flat rule! Note--I did say most, not all!
My last Winnie & Walter order included the wonderful noel die which I cut from self-adhesive fun foam so I could cover it in Elizabeth Craft Champagne glitter.  I was inspired by The Gossip Column No. 6 to make a marble background. This is not something I've ever done, so here's my experiment. Watercolor paper, Distress Paints picket fence & antique linen & Adirondack Cranberry Dimensional Pearls.  The design faded as it dried, but decided to go with it anyway. Hoping this looks like a modern, elegant design--you can decide.  The little sprigs are from W&W Frenchy's Festive Florals which are stamped in Distress Ink pine needles & brushed with water.  The panel is die cut with Lil' Inker stitched rectangle which I matted with a piece of cardstock for a bit more dimension.
The sequins seemed to compliment the design last night, but this morning they looked way too yellow. So, another experiment--add Platinum Liquid Pearls.  Big improvement & it actually had the added bonus of looking like marble--to me, at least--haha! I'm also entering Merry Monday & HLS Christmas. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Sending Hugs

It's always fun to start the year with PTI MIM A La Carte.  I participated in almost all of the challenges in 2016, but my card for String Art Using Die Cuts didn't make a pattern like you're supposed to.  Boy did I have fun doing it right this time!
I used the scalloped note card die from PTI Don't Forget to Write kit & added the stitching holes with a paper piercer.  The tiny scallops required tiny holes, so I used pink thread & a small needle to do the string art. I've always loved the color combo of pink & kraft & it's nice to use my thread for something other than mending--haha!  This was my first time to actually figure out how to use the stamps & bouquet die in the kit--yah! Now maybe I'll start using the kit--what an idea! The PTI inks are Lovely Lady, Raspberry Fizz, Ocean Tides & Aqua Mist.
Wink of Stella was used to add shimmer to the bouquet & the large word is white embossed to tie in.  Think this will work to send to a blogging friend for Valentine's Day.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.  I'm also entering DRU, HLS Anything Goes with Dies, The Playground, SSS Monday & Word Art Wednesday.

Two Floral Cards

No winter last year, but it's making up for it this year!  Woke up yesterday to freezing rain which turned into several hours of fluffy snowflakes.
We ended up with 2 inches of snow making a Winter Wonderland.  Today we're finally above freezing & it's back to good old Oregon rain.
One of hubby's cousins just had surgery, so I pulled out this Altenew flower stamp my friend, Cat recently gave me.  I used the colors for the Altenew January Challenge.
The fussy cut flower was colored with a dark red Zig & a gold gel pen.  I'm on a roll adding Diamond Glaze with a fine tipped applicator--love it!  The sentiment is from an Inkadinkado set I've had for ages, but never opened until now. Years ago I fell in love with Spellbinder dies because you can emboss the edge, as I did here. The edges of the ivory label were sponged with Distress Inks wild honey & vintage photo. Glad to say, hubby says it's perfect to send to Cuz R.  I'm also entering Dies R Us.

No excuse not to enter the monthly challenges at a2z, as I have a huge collection of Hero Arts stamps!
Decided not to put off making a card & noticed my un-inked Flower Swirl Vine stamp.  Clearly I have too much stuff, as this is a beauty I've never used!  I love the look of adding color to a masked area a bit smaller than the embossed image. I sponged with Distress Inks shaded lilac, tumbled glass & cracked pistachio. Then I brushed on Perfect Pearls which gives such a gorgeous shimmer.
The panel was die cut with AJVD Polka Dot Rectangle which I also used to cut out the center of the dark gray panel.  Debated about adding some bling, but honestly, I don't think it's needed. I'm also entering HLS Anything Goes with Dies, PB & More & A Blog Named Hero.  Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

I've Missed You!

Didn't plan a blogging break, but I started 2017 sick in bed & then my laptop went in for maintenance.  I made a thank you card, but it was so similar to a previous card I didn't bother to take a photo.  Spending less time on the computer is actually one of my goals this year, but not so many days in a row!  I've really missed my friends & I'm working on catching up with all of you.

Penny Black Saturday Challenge
It's time for our first challenge of the year at Penny Black Saturday Challenge & it's an easy one:  Anything Goes.  I pulled out the lovely PB stamp set called enamor--a gift from a sweet friend.
This is my first time to ink it up & now I can't wait to try the other images including a sweet butterfly.  I just love the sentiment & it will be used a lot as I often send cards just to give someone happy mail when they don't expect it.  I colored with Zig Clean Color markers in 2 shades of purple, pink & blue without adding any water.  After the flowers dried I used a fine tip applicator to cover them in Diamond Glaze--something I've been wanting to try.  Love the raised, glossy look!  Finished them off with PPP clear sequins dotted with silver Stickles.
The panel is die cut with AJVD Dotted Backdrop Rectangle & is mounted flat to a black panel.  Another goal this year is to use less foam tape keeping down postage costs--not to mention the cost of the tape--haha! Sometimes flat is really OK & I think that's true for this card.  What do you think?  I'm entering Penny Black & MoreThe Playground (large scrap of black cardstock), SSS Monday, SSS Wednesday & Stamplorations Jan CAS.  Thanks so much for taking time to visit my blog.

I always think there's plenty of time to get Valentines made after the holidays, but then I'm scrambling at the last minute. Hurray--3 made before New Years Day!
First is hubby's card made with SSS Highlight Frames die.  I'm entering SSS Flickr Challenge #61
I stacked the die cut 3 high, brushed with clear & red Spectrum Noir pens before inlaying it back into the black panel.
Heidi Swapp alphabet stickers are used for the sentiment.  I'm also entering Word Art Wednesday.

Next is my card for Stamploration December Challenge using the sketch.
Pulled out the Hearts Tumbled Stencil, inked it with Versamark & embossed with Zing red glitter powder.
The die cut edge is done with a PPP die & the AMuse sentiment is white embossed. I used a red gel pen & Diamond Glaze for the tiny heart.  The red metallic trim was part of a prize over a year ago & it matches the embossing powder perfectly!  I'm also entering Stamplorations Never-Ending Anything Goes Challenge.
The last card is for the December Altenew Challenge using the beautiful color combo for the March challenge.
I got the Majestic Bloom stamps & dies in the 50% off sale & couldn't wait to ink it up. The package included 6 Altenew inks so I used the Jet Black which stamped beautifully. Hopefully the PTI inks are close enough to the inspiration: Autumn Rose, Lavender Moon & Ocean Tides.
The flower is heavily spritzed with Perfect Pearls--love that shimmer! The sentiment is from Altenew Painted Greetings & PPP Marshmallow sequins provide the embellishment for this card that will go to a friend. I'm also entering SSS Wednesday. Thanks so much for stopping by & enjoy your New Year's Celebration!
