Visions of Sugarplums--Day 3

Hope you've enjoyed the first 2 days--now it's Visions of Sugarplums, Day 3. Lots of inspiration & wonderful sponsors/prizes!  Don't forget to start each day with a comment at Chouxchoux Paper Art & then each additional comment along the way gives you another entry for the random drawings. All the details are on Lori's blog.
Greta Hess--that's me!
I saved my favorite project for the final day.  It began with a smooshed panel die cut with AJVD Polka Dot Rectangle Backdrop.
When it was completely dry, I used my Mini MISTI to stamp the beautiful Stampendous nativity in Versamark & embossed with Zing Denim embossing powder.  I repeated several times to get a very thick, shiny image. Thought the background needed some stars, but didn't want to detract from the nativity so I used white ink with a heidi swapp stencil & embossed with clear embossing powder.
The sentiment from the AJVD set called Christmas Star is silver embossed & I used a bit of silver Stickles on the star & halo.  This one is going to my sister & brother-in-law.

You can also join me in entering the Visions of Sugarplums Christmas/Winter challenge for a chance at the $25 gift certificate to Freckled Fawn.
I'm also entering Always Use Rubber, Christmas Card Challenges, Dies R Us & SSS Wednesday. Thanks so much for taking time to stop by.

Visions of Sugarplums--Day 2

I'm back with my project for Visions of Sugarplums, Day 2.  Lori has a fabulous group of sponsors this year.  You need to start each day with a comment at Chouxchoux Paper Art & then each additional comment along the way gives you another entry for the random drawings. All the details are on Lori's blog.
Greta Hess--that's me!

When I visited family in Indy, my cousin's wife cut 2 Tim Holtz stencils in half to share with me.  I sponged with Versamark & gold embossed the beautiful greenery images on a kraft panel.
For more definition, I lightly sponged with Distress Ink vintage sepia & couldn't resist some gold Stickles on the berries. Hard to see the pretty sparkle in the photo.
The Penny Black sentiment is one of my favorites & how do you like my $1 bargain plaid ribbon from Target?!  I mounted the panel with fun foam to a card front with a red strip down the left side.

You can also join me in entering the Visions of Sugarplums Christmas/Winter challenge for a chance at the $25 gift certificate to Freckled Fawn.  I'm also entering SSS Wednesday. Thanks so much for stopping by.

Visions of Sugarplums--Day 1

I am so honored & delighted that Lori invited me to join her team for Visions of Sugarplums 2016.  Check out the great sponsors this year!  You have a chance to win by leaving comments on all the blogs.  Each comment gives you another entry into the random drawings.  Be sure to start at Lori's blog where you'll find all the details.
I'm starting off with a Christmas tag--double tag, actually.  The bottom layer is PTI Mat Stack 3 & the top one is a Lifestyle Crafts circle die.
I used an image from PTI Spruce & Sprigs to stamp a wreath in New Leaf & Green Parakeet.  The sentiment from PTI Friendship Jar Flowers is stamped in Memento Love Letter & I misted with Perfect Pearls.  Stickles Christmas Red was used for the berries & I tied on a bow made from the shiny red trim that was part of a prize from The Playground.
The bottom layer is done with another stamp from Spruce & Sprigs. The circle is mounted with foam tape & I finished off with a piece of green twine I've had forever & never used.  Lots of inspiration--enjoy hopping!

Quick, Easy, Sparkly for PBSC!

Has panic set in--haha!  I'm not even working until next year & I still feel behind with the holidays upon us.  Most of my Christmas cards are made & what I have left need to be quick to do.  That led me back to a technique I learned in one of my first stamping classes nearly 20 years ago.
This is my DT card for PBSC where you can make any Christmas or Winter card using Penny Black stamps/dies/Stickeroos.  I had never opened this set of 2 stamps called winter village. Turns out they fit like this in the Mini MISTI, so very easy to stamp a set of cards in multiple colors.  I have lots of old Brilliance ink pads that still work great & have never been re-inked. This card is done in Gamma Green which I also sponged on the edges of the card front.  One name for the technique is Crystallina.
All you do is cover your stamped panel with glitter & see the magic! My favorite way to do this is to spray with silver Glitter Dust, but you can also use spray adhesive & dry glitter. Hope I've given you some ideas & that you'll play along in our challenge.  Wishing everyone a blessed, peaceful holiday season. Thank you so much for stopping by. I'm entering Merry Monday (think this would work for a guy), SSS Wednesday, Time Out & Word Art Wednesday.

Angel Card

This 1998 DeNami angel is one I bought when I began stamping. I still love her & usually just heat emboss on colored paper to avoid having to color.  Now that I have Bristol paper & Zig wc markers I wanted to try coloring.  Actually came out OK & I'll keep practicing.  After it dried I brushed the gown & wings with Spectrum Noir clear sparkle.  The die cut is Spellbinders Decorative Labels One & the sentiment is from Hero Arts Happy Holly Days.
Love Stampendous Moonstone embossing powder.  Memento Gray Flannel was a close match to the Zig I used for the trumpet so I used it for the sentiment. The mat looks black, but it's actually a dark gray.  Last minute entry for the challenge at Always Use Rubber & I'll also enter ATSM, Allsorts, Christmas Card Challenges, DRU, Paru's Card Making Challenges, SSS WednesdayDie Cut Divas & Word Art Wednesday.  Thanks so much for stopping by.

Sending Warm Greetings

It's cool & damp around here, so a card sending warm greetings seems appropriate.  The beautiful Fall mood board for the Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights challenge provided my inspiration.  I focused on the on the colors in the apple picture & smooshed a panel of watercolor paper with Distress Inks fired brick & spiced marmalade. Since I learned to do 1 color at a time & dry between each layer, I love how this technique turns out.  This time I also tried using less water for some layers which gives even more texture. I didn't want to add any other colors, so die cut EH Bold Blossoms leaves & blossoms from the panel.
Before adhering them to the ivory card with Perfect Paper Adhesive which dries invisible, I used my Mini MISTI to stamp the greeting in Versafine Vintage Sepia. I was a lucky winner recently & the beautiful Sending Peonies stamp set from The Ton was part of the prize Virginia sent to me. There is a lovely variety of sentiments you can stamp with the word Sending & using the MISTI makes it so easy. I lightly splattered with the Vintage Sepia & added a few PPP gold sequins. I'm also entering CCCB, CropStop, Fusion (sketch) & Word Art Wednesday. I know everyone is super busy, so your visit is especially appreciated.
